About Me

I am Dave. I am also 461L, WSHW986, and KFØUOG.

You can search for all of my FCC granted licenses using my FRN, 0031623283 by going to this website, then at the bottom of the list, click on "Universal Licensing System Search," choose "By FRN" in the dropdown box, and searching my FRN. Direct linking to the "Universal Licensing System Search" website is not allowed, so I have included screenshots of my licenses here for easier viewing if you dont need the actual FCC page.

Who is 461L?

461L is the radio callsign I used before obtaining my GMRS callsign of WSHW986. It was created in 2007 when I was in high school.

My senior year, I went on a ride along with a McCook County Sherrif Deputy. I was told that the Deputies radio callsign was created by using 461 and the first letter of the deputy's last name. 46 for the county number of McCook County, 1 designating the radio caller as a Sherrif Deputy (a 0 would be used if the city had their own police department), and then the letter of the deputy's last name.

So:

46 = McCook County
1 = Sheriff Deputy
L = officer identifier

That deputy gave me the callsign 461L in case of emergency communication and I needed to radio in to dispatch. I never needed to use it during the ride along trips, but for years afterwards I was known as 461L whenever I would transmit on the radio, and still do whenever I'm not using my GMRS or AR call sign.

Who is WSHW986?

WSHW986 is my Current GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) Callsign.

Who is KFØUOG?

KFØUOG is my Current Amateur Radio (Also known as a Ham License, which I dispise this term with a passion) Callsign.
